Shafaqna Afghanistan-Ni Qala is related to Qarabagh district of Ghazni province.
Qarabagh was the hunting ground of the Ghaznavid kings. Abul Fazl Bayhaqi, the chief secretary of the court of the Ghaznavid kings, describing this land, its meadows, and its hunting customs, said that the happy and prosperous Ghaznavid kings used to come to this land for their hunting tours and called it Hazar Bagh, which was the hunting ground of the Ghaznavids.
During the Ghaznavid period, Qala Nay was a prison. It had strong and sturdy walls. This fort was used to hold political prisoners and store war booty and royal gifts. Hazrat Masoud Saad Salman, the great poet of the Ghaznavid era, was imprisoned in this prison for nearly ten years during the reign of Sultan Ibrahim Ghaznavi.
The semi-ruined walls of this ancient fort, which was seven meters high, are still standing. This prison was built in the heart of the mountain with stairs going down, and in it, there are fortified rooms in the heart of the rocks, each of which was three meters high and seven to twelve meters long. There were holes in this prison that were used to move between the cells, and these holes still remain in their original form.
Qala-e-Nay or Nay Qala
(In memory of Hazrat Masoud Saad Salman)
I lament from the heart that my nay is inside the fence of Nay
My ambition has taken a high place.
…
I returned, a prisoner of the Nay Castle
I have reduced my profit by fate.
The height of the fortress and the steepness of the mountain
I have lost sight of the ground.
